Hailing from Raleigh, NC where I attended The Medical Arts School in 2013, I approach massage using Western techniques and modalities, specializing in balancing firm pressure for muscle melting therapeutic results and a methodical muscle specific flow to put you in a mind-melting zen state. I love incorporating trigger point therapy to ensure pain relief results, as well as hot stones for inflammation reduction, cupping for fascial (connective tissue) release, and dry brushing for exfoliation.
I furthered my studies over the years to include niche offerings such as Lymphatic Drainage massage to encourage your body’s waste management system to flush static toxins and stagnant blood, Gua Sha to reduce puffiness of the face and neck, focused abdominal work for bloating and IBS symptom reduction, and full body scrubs and wraps to keep your skin moisturized and glowing. I have a background in several settings, including the medical spa field, day spa environment, full service wellness centers, and small independent local practices. I have a passion for encouraging radical self care, connection and healing through physical touch, intuition, and the art of massage. With gratitude and appreciation for my first decade of experience in my hometown, I'm excited to share my unique gifts and talents with the RVA community! In my spare time, I enjoy all things crafty and vintage.
Available Weds 9-4PM, Sat & Sun 12-5PM
I was originally led to bodywork through a series of experiences in my own healing journey. I completed my certification in Rolfing™ Structural Integration from the Rolf Institute in Boulder, CO in 2012 and completed Advanced Rolfing training in May of 2018.
As of 2021, I most recently delved into fascial counterstrain workshops, developed by Brian Tuckey PT, OCS, JSCCI. In my practice, this has brought about more perspective on how to treat and work with a larger scale of physical symptoms, with the premise of fascial counterstrain being to vastly decrease inflammation.
My interests are Rolfing SI, projects around the house, gardening, Ving Tsun Kung Fu, Yoga, Qigong, nature, hiking, climbing, traveling, and most anything that involves physical movement, working with my hands, lifting heavy things. I'm always seeking out information on the body, life hacks, and figuring out how this multi faceted system we call a body works and adapts to life.
Available Tuesdays 3:30-8:30PM
Hi, I’m Alicia. I graduated from John Tyler Community College in 2020. My specialties include Ashiatsu, cupping, Swedish massage, and hot stone therapy. Working as a licensed massage therapist (LMT) is a rewarding career because I can help assist in the body’s healing process. I also enjoy helping people find ways to relax in our busy world.
In my free time, I enjoy practicing Taekwondo, Muay Thai, walking, reading, and taking care of myself.
My goal is to provide a soothing, beautiful space where clients can unwind and service providers can focus on caring for clients without the added stress of running a business. I will still be working in the treatment room as a licensed massage therapist and esthetician. I can perform anything from light to firm pressure, including deep tissue work, depending on your needs. The modalities that I most often employ in the massage room are trigger point therapy, Swedish, myofascial release, sports massage, prenatal, cupping, and gua sha. I am excited to bring unique services to the facial department by using my dual licensure to perform sculpting intra-oral Buccal facials and Manual Lymphatic Drainage facials.
In my free time, I love non-fiction books, attempting to cook, gardening, sketching in pencil, and attending live music events and festivals of all different genres.
